PC-12 Flight Training

EASA PC-12 Single Engine Turbine Class Rating



The aim of a class rating course is to provide ground and flight instruction to a trainee already holding a pilot's licence, so that they may pass all sections of the LST and act as a pilot on the PC-12 series of aircraft.


Pre-entry requirements


  • Be at least 17 years of age

  • Be in possession of a Class One (or Two) medical certificate before training commences. Holders of a Class Two medical must also hold an audiogram

  • Hold at least an EASA PPL(A)

  • Hold an ICAO Instrument Rating

  • Have at least 200 hours total pilot experience with an absolute minimum of 70 hours PIC

  • Hold a certificate of satisfactory completion of a course for additional theoretical knowledge (HPA Theoretical Knowledge ) undertaken at an ATO; or

  1. Have passed the ATPL(A) theoretical knowledge examinations in accordance with Part-FCL; or

  2. Hold, in addition to a licence issued in accordance with Part-FCL, an ATPL(A) or CPL(A)/IR with theoretical knowledge credit for ATPL(A) issued in accordance with Annex 1 to the Chicago Convention.


For those pilots who required the HPA Theoretical Knowledge course, Oysterair can complete this prior to training.


Credits for previous experience


The HT will assess the flying experience of each trainee. The approved course of training may be modified to account for previous experience on similar aircraft types. A similar type is considered by the company to be any other aircraft classed as a Single Pilot High Performance Aeroplane (SP HPA) with one or more turboprop or turbojet engines.


Note: Please note that in all cases, in order to determine the amount of hours to be credited and to establish the training needs, the trainee will be required to complete a pre-entry assessment flight with a company nominated instructor. The HT will then decide on the amount of credit to be awarded.

Flight & Theoretical Knowledge Training


The PC-12 SET training syllabus contains a total of:


  • 49 hours of theoretical knowledge instruction;

  • Theoretical Knowledge Exam (100 questions, conducted in-house);

  • Minimum of 10 hours of flight training; and

  • Licence Skill Test (LST) with an examiner in the PC12 aircraft.




The training takes approximately 5 days to complete including briefings and test preparation. The first days are completed via our online learning management system which means you can complete the majority of your theoretical knowlegde training at home, during a lunch break, etc. When you arrive for your flight training we will first complete a wash up session which will include the theoretical knowledge exam (60 questions) prior to starting your flight training.


ICAO Conversions


If you are a current PC-12 pilot operating on the basis of an ICAO licence (e.g. FAA) then Oysterair can assist you in gaining an EASA licence and PC-12 SET Class Rating. The training package for an ICAO conversion includes all of the mandatory training items conducted in the full course. There is no minimum flight training requirements, however, most candidates complete approximately 4 hours flight training prior to completing the Class Rating Skill Test with an examiner. The course takes approximately 2 full days to complete.

Differences Training

Oysterair can deliver differences training from the PC-12 series to the PC-12NG and vice versa.
